  3. Stipend for participating in events *please note amount of stipend is dependent upon 2026 funding awards*

  4. Artist mentor if requested

Are you a dedicated art maker? Are you ready to go deeper? SMDC Artistic Director is calling all makers to go on an experiential learning journey designed to support us in our creative process and strengthen a growth minded approach that encourages risk taking, rule breaking and using art as a means for peaceful activism and community building.

Here’s How it Works:

Step 1: Apply HERE by December 15. You will be notified by January 6 if you will be one of the 5 artists.

Step 2: Start making your work

Step 3: Choose and contact a trusted art making ally as a mentor once a month while developing your work

Step 4: Come to both Work in Progress showings facilitated By Kate Warren and receive feedback from your community

What Invited Artists provide:

  1. Space for creation/rehearsal

  2. All tools needed to create your work

  3. Submit a log of time with Mentor as well as construction time to receive stipend

  4. Artist Mentor

I am organizing this year long growth journey as a way to reboot and deepen my own capacity for creation. I would love to bring a small group of like minded creatives with me! There is potential for so many partnerships after going on this ride together. I am holding the intention that within the group, new collaborative relationships are formed as well as the potential to premiere shared shows. Let’s see what is possible as a community!
